John Bauters
for Alameda County District 5 Supervisor

John has served on the Emeryville Council since 2016, including three years as Mayor. He has spent over 20 years fighting to lift families out of poverty, working as an eviction defense attorney and as a policy expert in homelessness and mental health services. Having experienced housing insecurity as a young adult, John understands the housing crisis firsthand. As Emeryville’s Mayor, he led a $50 million affordable housing initiative and reduced homelessness by 79% since 2019. John has also worked as a victims’ advocate, helping secure justice for those affected by violence. He supports partnering with law enforcement to combat crime and improve emergency response times.

Known as “America’s Bike Mayor,” John has helped make Emeryville a model for walkable and bike-friendly living. He was elected Chair of the Alameda County Transportation Commission in 2022, where he integrated climate action goals into the county’s transportation priorities. He has also championed air quality regulations and led efforts to eliminate lead hazards in East Bay homes. John holds degrees from the University of Notre Dame and Boston College Law School.

Warren Logan
for Oakland City Council District 3

Warren Logan is a dedicated public servant, urban planner, and advocate for positive change in Oakland. Born and raised in Southern California, he came to the Bay Area for education, earning degrees from Occidental College and UC Berkeley in Urban & Environmental Policy and City Planning. His career spans multiple levels of government, with a focus on transportation and land use planning. As Oakland’s Policy Director of Transportation and Government Affairs, he helped shape our city’s infrastructure and environmental design. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Warren led the Community Resilience team, launching testing sites, securing resources, and creating the nation’s largest Slow Streets program.

Inspired by his family’s legacy of service, Warren works to ensure equity in housing and community well-being. He currently lives in West Oakland with his husband, and volunteers through his church, Lake Merritt United Methodist, where he helps with food distribution and community support. As the first openly Black gay man running for Oakland City Council, Warren Logan brings a perspective rooted in empathy and inclusivity, with a vision for a thriving and resilient Oakland.
